NYC

I really think Chinatown is pretty amazing,
it will be like living in two different places at the time
xD
I want to live in NYC, not because is in the US but because it is NEW YORK CITY, when I was younger I wanted to live in England (just because it has bad weather, i hate sunny days) but that change the moment I decide to study Photography, the truth is that I got everything kind of planned, the idea is to leave Chile like in 3 or 4 years with one of my best friends (she studied publicity).

We both love NY because the whole city is related to what we do, every tendency is born there, and because in there mostly all kind of art is apreciated and well paid.

We where thinking in live in Chinatown in Manhattan, I know that Manhattan is expensive, but that's why we want to live in Chinatown, i mean, we could do it in the Bronx.. but that will be a little far away from the 'artistic' part of the city (Broadway - yes, i'm interested in theater too -, TriBeCa, NoLita, etc).

The idea is to get to work like a fashion photographer in there, how? i don't care, I'm just going to do it.

The language is not really a problem, I don't really speak english in the proper way, I mean, I'm sure this blog is full of misspellings, but in a city that is made of inmigrants... I don't really think that the language is gonna be a problem, and anyways, i think i can manage myself in there.

Pets

My mom HATE all kind of animals, because they are dirty, smelly, etc, that's the reason why in my 22 years of being alive I only had a few pets, but they where/are mostly tiny animals.

when I was a child (usually with my big brother) we use to drown the anthills from our garden to chase all of the ants and put them in glass jars, I think we made like 20 ants farms is our childhood, it wasn't even funny, but there was anything else to do.

there was this time when we stole a cat (yes we stole it from a neighbor from a few houses down) we hide it as long as we could until our mom found out, she was mad but let us keep it.. until the little fella got close to the gate and someone else stole it from us (damn you karma), the next animal we had (beside the ants) was a cute, fatty and fluffy hamster, she had a lots of names, I always called her 'Hamster' but my brother called her 'Bolita' and my mom 'Porota', but her original name was 'Café con leche' because that was her fur color, I'm pretty sure she had a lot more names, but a just can't remember, whatever, she was like the Tutankamon of the hamsters because she lived 6 years. After Café con Leche died, we didn't have any pets until one of my brother's girlfriends (i can't remember her name) gave us a couple of birds, Pancracio and Dorotea (my brother was the one that pick those stupid names, if it was for me, they will be called bird one and bird two), Dorotea died from a heart attack like a year ago, so Pancaca is a widower.. i don't remember having anything else.

Richard Avedon

Richard Avedon taking a picture with a Rolleiflex
Richard Avedon is one of my favorite photographers, he was born in May 15, 1923 (NYC) and died of a brain hemorrhage in San Antonio, Texas, in October 1, 2004; he got married two times and only got one son (John Avedon)

One of the reasons why i like him so much, is because he gave so much to one of the fields of photography that i love the most: fashion; Avedon did not conform to the standard technique of taking studio fashion photographs, where models stood emotionless and seemingly indifferent to the camera. Instead, Avedon showed models full of emotion, smiling, laughing, and, many times, in action in outdoor settings which was revolutionary at the time. However, towards the end of the 1950s he became dissatisfied with daylight photography and open air locations and so turned to studio photography, using strobe lighting.

He has worked for Vouge, Harper's Bazaar, Life, Look, etc

Beside all his work in the fashion industries, he got an enormous amount of studio portraits taken to civil rights workers, politicians, rock bands, famous people, anonymous ones, etc

The Bogeyman

The Bogeyman is a serie of photograph's taken by Duane Michals in 1973, i really like it because it is kind of sinister, i mean, it show us how an imaginary monster (who kidnap us if we do not behave) created by our parent materialized it self, isn't that scary? But isn't even more scary how the little girl is the one that wake up this guy so he can take her away?(and I even think the girl is laughing) it's disturbing

Duane Michals always take photos like this one, that's why he is one of my favorite photographers, i think it's amazing how he put all of his imagination in pictures and show it to us in such a insane way.

I decided to put this serie instead of ONE photograph because it does not work if i just use one; thanks god for the GIF's that let me put the serie in just one ‘picture’

Holidays

Between the scout's camps, family vacations and going out somewhere with my friends I travel A LOT and i really like it, thanks to that I been able to get to know so many beatiful places, but there is one specific vacation that i'll always gonna remember, the first time that I went to the beach with my friends (in 2008 i think) we had such a great time that I just remember like half of the thing, everything was a blur, but a funny one.

We went to camp in a beach called 'Las Mostazas' in Las Tacas (between Guanaqueros and Morrillos), we spent the whole week there, we had such a good time camping, we where the entire day in the sea, then we had picknics watching the sunset (i know it's kind of romantic but we did it anyways haha) and for night we usually built a big fire to keep us warm durning our all night long parties.

Damon Albarn.

Damon Albarn is the most amazing guy in the whole earth, he is my favorite singer and musician and human being.
He is the voice of Blur and Gorillaz, two of my favorite bands.
I don't know much about him, he was born in England, has a gold tooth and a daughter whit a sculptor, he pretty much plays any instrument, he is quite talented.
My love for him started with Blur, the first time i saw the video of 'Boys and Girls' was so weird, i was so little and the video so confusing that i couldn't stop watching it, from Blur my favorite song is 'Tender', it's such a pretty song, and from Gorillaz, geez, i like them all  lol

What i most like about him is his voice, it's so calming... I FREAKING LOVE HIM! :D

Cameras.

I'm totally addicted to technology, since i was a little girl i always wanted to have the last thing that has just come out on the market, specially cameras, I always have been in love with them, I even remember the first picture that I ever took (and I still got it).
The first camera that I got was at age 7, it was this analogical and compact camera (I think it was a Nikon), I always had it with me, wherever i went, it went with me, i still remember taking those stupid pictures to my barbies, toys, flowers, etc.
My love for cameras was born with my grandpa, he used to be a photographer in his free time, and since I believed he was the coolest guy on earth, i wanted to do the same (I even use his old reflex).
I pretty much use a camera everyday, maybe not an analogical one, not a reflex, not a compact, but my cellphone has given me the chance to have one in my pocket without using any space.
Life without a camera would be weird, i mean, i pretty much look at the 'real life' as if it was a picture, the deep fields, the focus, the angles, etc., but at the same time, if I didn't know them, it wouldn't matter.
